10.4. Summary

After reading this chapter, you should have a better understanding of what MIDI is and some of the various methods available for use on your web pages. These methods include theme music, button sounds, and a MIDI soundtrack. You should also have an idea of how to use MIDI to tastefully enhance your site, as well as how to use MIDI files to generate the interest of visitors to your site. Finally, you should have learned how to create and edit MIDI files using Vision, Twiddly Bits, and the large MIDI file archives available on the Web. In the next chapter, we will look at Beatnik's RMF format, which combines a rich MIDI sound engine with the ability to tie playback to user events.
